Pre-recorded with a live audience, these four friendly and powerful webinars dig into the roadblocks organizations face at all levels around safety and provide specific tools and plans for building systems, processes, procedures and management practices that create a lasting corporate-wide commitment to safety.

Based on decades of research and work with many of the world’s leading corporations, Agnew and Daniels, authors of Safe by Accident? Take the Luck out of Safety, bring you the topics that will ensure you are safe by design. These topics identify what is missing in safety leadership and can help organizations eliminate counterproductive practices and foster a company-wide culture of safety – from the boardroom to supervisors to employees on the frontline.

The following 90-minute Safety webinars are included in this series:

Safety Practices that Don’t Work (and what to do instead)
Let’s face it, safety is only one of the many business drivers that compete for management time and attention. It is critical that safety practices be high-impact. Too many companies use ineffective practices that only waste time and money. Incentive programs, safety signage, and discipline are just a few of the seven practices discussed in this 90-minute webinar. Dr. Agnew will pinpoint what causes these practices to be ineffective and more importantly what you should do instead.

Understanding At-Risk Behavior
Failure to understand why people engage in at-risk behavior not only leads to blame and mistrust, it makes it impossible to truly improve safety.  During this 90-minute webinar, Dr. Agnew will discuss a scientific approach to understanding why people do what they do, and she will introduce a robust process for understanding and predicting behavior. This session will give leaders and organizations the tools they need to get to the behavioral root causes of at-risk behavior and create solutions that lead to sustainable safe behavior at all levels of the organization.

Eliminating the Rare Error
An irony in safety is that many organizations with exemplary safety records have a higher risk of a catastrophic failure than do organizations that are actively working to improve their records. Complacency can accompany high safety performance and result in few reinforcers for monitoring behavior. Therefore, when an incident does occur, it has the potential to be catastrophic; no one will be looking because looking will likely have undergone extinction. During this 90-minute webinar, Dr. Daniels discusses how behavioral technology can detect the potential for rare errors and offers ways to insure that processes have integrity that is sustainable over the long haul.

Creating a Safety Culture
To understand and influence an organizational culture, you must first understand how individual behavior, decision making, management practices, etc. define and shape that culture. ADI uses its understanding of behavior to evaluate how organizations encourage or discourage an exemplary safety culture. Safety leadership practices, systems and processes establish how an organizations culture impacts safe and at-risk behavior.  Dr. Agnew and Dr. Daniels will focus this 90-minute webinar on how to determine which organizational practices (throughout the entire organization) support safe behavior and should therefore be continued, and which enable at-risk behavior and what to do about them. Strategies for change will also be discussed.
